The Macmillan Information and support POD is based on the ground floor next to the escalator that takes you to the pharmacy and out-patients.
The POD was opened in January 2024 and had over 1000 people access this drop-in-service over its first initial 12 months. Demonstrating the need for this level of support here in Barnsley. It is due to have a proper launch over the next few months so you may well hear of it in the local press.
The POD is a safe supportive space for you and your family to access as needed, during the times below without the need to make an appointment.
Monday to Thursday 09.00-16.30 closing at 12.30- 13.00 for lunch. Friday 09.00 until 12.30.
When you visit you will be greeted by a member of our hospital staff and a wonderful team of volunteers who all can provide support, guidance and information relevant to your needs. We have a wide range of Macmillan trusted information booklets for you to take away, alongside local services and other useful information. The teams can also link and seek advice from our cancer teams here at Barnsley if they feel this is appropriate.
If on attending due to the size of the POD and its location, we would ask you to respect other service users need for privacy and call back if it looks busy. Or, alternatively leave your name and number with our volunteer so a member of the team can call you back.
You can visit as many times as you need, and if happen to call when the POD is closed there is a range of information leaflets on the wall outside the POD for you to access and take away as needed.
