SUPPORT — Health and Wellbeing Support
Practical Support
If you are struggling around your home with activities of daily living. Pease speak to your health care professional, so that they can refer you to the appropriate local service.
Therapy Services
These teams can assess you within your home, and determine if any aids may help you in day to day life. Such as a walking stick or grab rail on the stairs to make things a little easier for you. A member of your healthcare team will need to refer you to them, so please let them know if daily tasks or perhaps your mobility are getting worse.
Social Services
Social Services can help with a variety of problems including arranging a carer to help with washing and dressing or cooking. Again you will need a referral from a healthcare professional to social services so please let them know if you are finding activities are getting harder to manage independently.
Live Well Team
The Live Well team are there to help you in remaining independent around the house. Please ask your health care team.
Food banks
The foodbanks in Barnsley offer emergency food to people in crisis. To access a foodbank you need to be referred by a local agency who’s working with you. They’ll give you a voucher number to take to your local foodbank.
Our foodbanks are provided by a partnership made up of the council, Church Action on Poverty (Barnsley), Fare Share and The Trussell Trust. Visit the Barnsley Foodbank Partnership website for more information.
