Financial Support

Being diagnosed with cancer can affect your overall financial wellbeing and cause you extra stress and worry.
This may be for a variety reasons, for instance you may need to take some time off work during and for a period after treatment. Or you may not be able to return to the same line of employment ,and need to consider other forms of employment. It is often necessary to seek some expert help and advice so your individual circumstances can be reviewed.
If you feel you would like to speak to somebody about your financial situation you can either call the Macmillan line, or speak with your cancer team who will be able to signpost you in the right direction for expert help and advice.

Macmillan Benefit advisors who can advise, support you with your financial concerns. Contact can be made in person by visiting the centre as shown above, calling for advice and help or asking your health care professional to refer you.

Prescription Exemption

Patients who are undergoing treatment for cancer, experiencing effects of cancer, or experiencing the effects of treatment for cancer, and are entitled to NHS treatment are entitled to free NHS prescriptions via a medical exemption certificate. If you are over 60, you do not need to apply as you are already exempt from prescription charges.
You can get a form from your GP or your hospital teams. They will need to complete part of it for you. Once complete post to the address at the top left of the form. You will then receive a card which you can use for any prescriptions.
