Support Groups
There are multiple groups all over Barnsley and also further afield. Many are run by healthcare professionals some by patients and carers themselves.
Please ask your HealthCare Professional about your specific cancer group. Within these groups you will meet others who are experiencing or have experienced the same concerns. PEER support is invaluable as you can share tips with each other, support one another and make new friends

Brain
Breast
Moving Forward which is facilitated by Breast Cancer Now is a national charity but there is a group held regularly in Barnsley. A chance to share anything you are worried about and also get the tools which will allow you to adjust daily life. Follow the link below to either book a course online or speak to your Cancer Nurse Specialist or Macmillan Cancer Support Worker if you would prefer to speak to someone face to face.

Cancer Support for all Ladies Cancers
Sam’s Diamonds Support
A national charity helping women with cancer regain their confidence, independence and motivation. It offers social meet-ups, nutrition advice, peer support, A book club, mobility equipment, wig fitting, a private Facebook group with 24 hour support, signposting, workshops and exercise classes. Additionally, it provides an annual respite weekend for members to spend time connecting with their peers. Please visit the website for more information.

Target
Ovarian Cancer Community online support, strength and community from people who understand what you are going through. Including support line, support events, support for family and friends, professional support and local support.
There is also the opportunity to join in Touch which is a safe and supportive space only for those with an ovarian cancer diagnosis. This is a private community where you can talk honestly and openly about how you are feeling – and find comfort and understanding from others living with and beyond ovarian cancer.

Haematological
We have a local Barnsley Haematology Support Group and is held every 2 months on the last Wednesday of the month. Often held at Emmanuel’s church on Huddersfield Road 4:30 -6:30 pm.
