Local Support: South Yorkshire TYA Cancer Service
South Yorkshire has a dedicated team of health professionals specializing in supporting teenagers and young adults.
- Teenage and young adult (TYA) cancer service (Includes detailed information about their team and a video tour of the Teenage Unit at Weston Park Hospital).
About the Service & Facilities
- Weston Park Hospital Unit: The TYA team operates a specialized unit designed to be less clinical and tailored to your age group, helping you feel as comfortable as possible during your stay.
- Haematology Patients: If you are diagnosed with a haematological cancer (such as leukaemia), you will be treated on the haematology ward at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital rather than the Weston Park unit. However, you can still fully access support and services from the TYA team.
- How to Access: If you would like information or a referral to this service, mention it to your healthcare team so they can connect you with the TYA professionals.
